Peacemaker Season 2 Trailer Teases Multiverse Chaos, Monster Battles, and Inner Demons

Peacemaker Season 2 Official Trailer Drops with Multiverse Mayhem and Darker Turns

SAN DIEGO, CA — At San Diego Comic-Con 2025, DC Studios unveiled the explosive official trailer for Peacemaker Season 2, confirming the return of John Cena’s chaotic antihero, Christopher Smith. The new season premieres on Thursday, August 21, 2025, exclusively on Max (formerly HBO Max).

In true James Gunn fashion, the trailer mixes absurd humor, heart, and pure comic book insanity—this time diving headfirst into a multiverse filled with monsters, moral reckoning, and alternate realities.

Welcome to a “Better” Universe—But at What Cost?

The footage shows Peacemaker stumbling into a seemingly improved version of his world. There’s a glimpse of a more hopeful romance with Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland), a cleaner conscience, and even upgraded gear. But as expected, peace doesn’t last.

This alternate dimension comes with its own threats—including giant monsters and existential traps. More significantly, the trailer introduces a new villain: Rick Flag Sr. (played by Frank Grillo), the father of the late Rick Flag Jr. Flag Sr. now leads A.R.G.U.S. and is determined to shut down the dangerous rift between dimensions—and get revenge on the man he blames for his son’s death.

Peacemaker Faces Himself—and His Father’s Ghost

According to series creator and DC Studios co-head James Gunn, Season 2 dives deep into Christopher Smith’s emotional baggage. “He’s trying to deal with the demons from Season 1, but the world’s not ready to accept him,” Gunn said during the Comic-Con panel.

A major part of that trauma is the lingering shadow of Peacemaker’s father, Auggie Smith (Robert Patrick), who returns in ghost form—serving as what Gunn calls a “sour Obi-Wan Kenobi.” His presence constantly taunts and haunts Smith as he struggles to redefine himself.

Firmly Set in the New DCU Timeline

Season 2 is officially set about one month after the events of the upcoming Superman film, positioning Peacemaker as one of the first TV entries to fully integrate into the revitalized DC Universe timeline led by Gunn and Peter Safran.

The returning cast includes Danielle Brooks (Leota Adebayo), Freddie Stroma (Vigilante), Steve Agee (John Economos), Jennifer Holland (Emilia Harcourt), and Dee Bradley Baker as the voice of Eagly. New faces include Sol Rodriguez and Tim Meadows, hinting at expanded stories and alliances.

James Gunn Brings His Full Vision

James Gunn penned all eight episodes and will direct at least three, including the season premiere. The trailer is scored to Ozzy Osbourne’s “Road to Nowhere”, setting the perfect mood for Peacemaker’s blend of emotional weight and absurd action.

With higher stakes, psychological twists, and deeper connections to the DC multiverse, Peacemaker Season 2 is shaping up to be as unforgettable as its debut—only bigger, weirder, and even more personal.
